Arise Racing GT emerged from a challenging weekend at Queensland Raceway with a strong haul of championship points, with the team navigating unpredictable weather and intense on-track action.


While many arrived expecting classic Queensland sunshine, Friday was marred by heavy rain, and Saturday featured a mix of damp sessions and a drying track — testing teams and drivers with ever-changing conditions.


Qualifying 1 unfolded in greasy conditions that improved steadily lap by lap. Jaxon Evans and Aaron Love showed early pace as the circuit dried, but a strategic call to favour dry-track setup didn’t quite match how quickly the grip levels evolved. Despite strong efforts, Evans and Love finished P6 and P10 respectively as lap times tumbled late.


In Qualifying 2, Elliott Schutte and Steve Wyatt took over driving duties and quickly found rhythm. Schutte and Wyatt ran as high as P2 and P6 during the session, ultimately locking in P4 (Schutte) and P9 (Wyatt) on the grid for Race 1.


Race 1 brought the weekend’s first fully dry conditions, though threatening skies lingered. Schutte held strong in P3 despite first-corner chaos, while Wyatt steadily climbed to P6 before handing over to Love.


The mid-race pit window proved dramatic — Love was delayed behind Evans exiting pit lane, and Car #26 received a drive-through penalty for a pit stop time infraction. Still, both cars mounted strong comebacks in the final stint. Evans brought Car #26 home in P3, while Love sealed P5 in Car #77 — a strong result amid the setbacks.


Clear skies returned for Sunday’s Race 2, with Pro drivers taking the start. Love lit up the timing screens with purple sectors, rapidly catching the leading pack alongside Evans. The pair ran as high as P5 (Evans) and P6 (Love) before pitting at the halfway point handover.


Post-pit stops, Wyatt rejoined in P2 and battled fiercely before safety cars repeatedly neutralized the race. With the field bunched up, Wyatt held P4 with Schutte in P5, both poised to attack in the closing laps.


Unfortunately, the string of safety cars left little green flag running to mount a full charge. The Arise GT duo crossed the line just shy of another podium but banked critical championship points once again.


Despite the hurdles, Arise Racing GT departs Queensland still leading the Teams’ Championship. Schutte and Evans also retain their lead in the Drivers’ Championship by 22 points, solidifying a strong mid-season position. Next up, the series heads to Sandown Raceway from July 25–27, where the team will look to build on their momentum.

Solid Points Finish for Arise Racing GT After Mixed Conditions in Queensland

Aaron Love will make a return to the driver’s seat later this month with a cameo appearance in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS. 

Replacing brother Jordan in the second Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3, Love will be joining Steve Wyatt at Queensland Raceway for the series' third round of the 2025 season. 

It marks Love’s return to motorsport following his split with the Blanchard Racing Team in Supercars after the opening round at Sydney Motorsport Park. Prior to his stint in Supercars, Love excelled in various Porsche one-make championships both here in Australia and across Europe, meaning he brings plenty of sports car experience to the fold. 
In 2022, Love went close to snatching the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia title despite missing two rounds after achieving a remarkable 12 victories, four poles and 14 podiums from 18 starts. 

During the same season, Love ended up fifth overall in Porsche Carrera Cup France and experienced the German manufacturer’s top-tier by contesting a round of the prestigious Porsche Supercup. 

His return home in 2023 marked a change in career as he contested Super2 and made his Supercars debut in the endurance events, before eventually switching to a full-time ride in 2024. 

For Wyatt and Love's brother Jordan, the pair's best finish in the 2025 season so far came in Phillip Island’s opening round with fourth overall, however a recent test day has the team well prepared ahead of Queensland Raceway. 

Arise Racing GT teammates Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte lead the overall standings comfortably after dominating the two opening rounds, highlighted by a clean sweep at the last outing in Sydney. 

Queensland Raceway marks the third round of GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries' EVENTelec GT Festival Queensland on May 30-June 1.

Aaron Love#77 Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3

“It’s a really nice feeling to be going racing again after a couple months away from a racetrack,” said Love. 

“To be doing it with Steve and the whole team at Arise in a Ferrari makes it a pretty cool weekend back I must say. 

“I’ve known most of the team and Steve for quite some time now, so it’s been a nice warm welcome back coming into the round. Steve has done the first two rounds now with my brother so I think he’s getting nice and comfortable with the car and I’ll be there to help him continue along that path. 

“For myself, it’s my first weekend in the car so it might take a little bit of adjusting from what I’ve been driving the last couple of years, but I think we should get the ball rolling once we get stuck into the weekend. 

“It’s been a difficult year so far for me with my racing in general so I’m just really looking forward to going racing and having fun again, I get to do it in a pretty cool car and some really good people around me so I think it should be a good weekend.”

Aaron Love to make racing comeback at Queensland Raceway

Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte delivered a commanding performance at Sydney Motorsport Park, securing a clean sweep in the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS. The duo claimed pole position in both qualifying sessions and followed up with a dominant win on Saturday evening. Returning on Sunday, they produced another faultless performance, crossing the line first once again to complete a perfect weekend.

Arise Racing GT’s second entry, car #77, also showed strong progress. Steve Wyatt gained valuable experience throughout the weekend, while Jordan Love continued to adapt well to the Ferrari. Love fought hard in both races and demonstrated excellent pace, while Wyatt showed consistent improvement in just his second race since returning to competition.

Qualifying 1 took place in ideal conditions, with the Pro drivers heading out first. Both Ferraris returned to the pits after a warmup phase to switch to fresh tyres. Two laps later, Evans and Love delivered impressive flying laps—securing pole position and fifth place respectively—just before a red flag brought the session to an early end.

In Qualifying 2, Schutte quickly asserted control by taking provisional pole early and extending his advantage throughout the session. Although the gap narrowed in the final minutes, his time held for pole, while Wyatt placed 13th after making significant gains compared to his pre-qualifying pace.

Saturday night’s Race 1, held under lights and in cooler conditions, saw Schutte deliver a composed opening stint, fending off early pressure from Brad Schumacher. After briefly conceding position at Turn 2, he regained the lead with a decisive move at Turn 6. His steady pace set up a clean handover to Evans during the mandatory pit stop. Evans rejoined with a 5-second lead after opting not to change tyres. The warm right-side tyres gave him an immediate advantage, allowing him to gain another 15 seconds on the out lap before bringing the car home for a dominant win.

Car #77 faced a tougher race. Wyatt was involved in early contact with Tim Miles, losing valuable time. Love responded with a strong recovery drive, showcasing impressive speed to fight back through the field and finish eighth.

Sunday’s race began with the Pro drivers once again, with both Ferraris starting inside the top five. Evans set the pace with a blistering opening stint, building a solid lead before handing over to Schutte. Meanwhile, Love engaged in a fierce battle for third and was forced off the track twice, including a dramatic save at the circuit’s fastest corner.

Despite a longer pit stop due to their Race 1 success, Schutte rejoined in second place and closed the gap to the leader, making the decisive pass with six laps to go to secure another comfortable victory. Wyatt brought car #77 home in tenth after another consistent performance.

The results mark Evans and Schutte’s third win in four races, firmly establishing them as championship contenders and giving them a strong lead in the standings heading into Round 3.
